Carpet hunting

I have a very interesting neighbor – C. She lives in a really big and awesome bus which she has renovated, extended and otherwise added to over the last 18 years. She doesn’t have a house or any fixed address, just the bus. When you first come through the door, it feels like a real apartment, there is a dining table and seating area that sits over top of where you normally sit to drive the bus, then there is a kitchen, complete with fridge, oven and sink, followed by a lounge area with a TV and couch. Last but not least there are two, yes two, bedrooms. One of the bedrooms is right down the back and the other one is up a ladder in a custom built extension.

Of course C. also got to tour through my apartment and see all the improvements that I have made myself. When she brought up the missing carpet and I talked about having been shopping and found it very expensive, she generously offered me some spare secondhand carpet for free. She got it from another family that she had done some painting for. Now the carpet is at her daughters house and is more or less laying in her way. I only have to get it from somewhere in the mountains – a 40min drive away.

I borrowed the truck from E’s family and went carpet hunting. Two hours later I was back at the apartment and had fun spending the rest of the evening carpet cutting. Unfortunately I had only a very bad pair of scissors and no knife. My fingers are done! Although I do have carpet and the room feels so much warmer now!
