Waikuku – moving to a couchsurfing place

Just arrived at G.’s house in Waikuku beach. It’s a very nice place next to the beach with a wonderful garden. We sat on the terrace for a time and talked about everything and anything. On Friday we will go out to a salsa party with some friends of G. Tomorrow I will do my first daytrip probably into the mountains.

I got my car insurance via mobile. The guy at the other end of the connection asked me lots of questions, I think I got them right. I answered everything about previous insurance, past crashes, drivers license and more… and thats it. And it is extremly cheap! I will pay 22$ a month.

Thereafter we went to Lake Ellesmere, which is a brackish water lake because it’s connected to the ocean. It’s a nice countryside. The beach at the ocean is gravel and there seemed to be a road but the car is so low on the ground and I managed to get stuck. Luckily we found some planks to put under the tyres and got free.
It’s forbidden to swim because of the big waves and probably the strong undertow. I’ve never seen such big waves without any kind of wind or storm. It’s awesome! Of course I managed to get wet, but no problem all my clothes are in the car now, so I could change.

Later we went onto a dirt road hoping to find the end of a spit into the ocean. Unfortunatly the road turned out to be a dead end, but I have a lot of wonderful impressions.
It’s so amazing, the mountains in the backround and a huge plain. There is nothing but sheep, cows and a few trees. The air is fresh and clear, I could even smell the trees and in the sunset everything was glowing. Amazing, my car seemed so small because the land is so expansive. I’ve never seen anything like this before, not even in Scotland.
